With sidebar and with key attributes

A basic note window with an uncustomised view has the following elements, working top to bottom:

Key attributes table (at top of text panel)

A table layout of attribute title/value cells. Values can be edited and the list re-ordered by drag/drop of the title cells. An item is deleted by dragging it out of the table. An item is added by using the Key attributes button in the sidebar, using the same button in the note's Create/Rename dialog, by setting the note's $KeyAttributes, or dragging a selected attribute from the User or System panes of the Attribute dialog. See more on the key attributes table. Displayed value boxes only support the MacRoman character set - Unicode data may not display properly although underlying Unicode data if not affect as long as the box is not edited.

Sidebar

The sidebar holds the following contents

Note that the sidebar doesn't have a scroll bar - to see all the content you must increase the vertical size of the text window. Revealing the attributes table pushes content below it further down the sidebar. The sidebar cannot be resized horizontally - use the Info view to see attribute values in full detail.

If a text window is sized very narrow - the sidebar will not be shown regardless of settings. You must make the window larger to display the sidebar - circa 570 pixels width seems the cut-off.

If the sidebar is hidden, the View menu item 'Hide Sidebar' will actually re-show the sidebar (assuming Note window width allows) despite the caption - the action is a toggle. Alternatively use the Sidebar visibility toggle icon bottom left of the text pane.
