The Maps tab controls various defaults relating to Map view (although some may be used in other views too):

• Map Font
• Map interior scale
• Background Main Color
• Background Accent Color
• Background Pattern
• If note name is too long
• After linking
• Opaque Adornments
• Adjacent Notes Form Composites
• Texture
• ^⌥⌘ zooms out
